Earth Old and Young

The wild young earth lays abundance before us
in every nook and cranny of opportunity.
With wiley cunning, life evolves to fill each crevice,
alertly using any shrinkage or sudden easing.

The wise old earth disregards our puny care,
indifferent to yet another species doing as it will.
Old earth turns on her axis, following her course as she must;
She has her own imperatives.

We care for the earth for our sakes, not hers.
